The Glen Affric Duathlon Race HQ, Registration & Transition are all situated within the quarry on the unlisted road about 0.75 miles from the River Affric Car Park and some 10 miles from Cannich village. There is strictly no car parking in the quarry OR at the Chisholm Bridge. The only vehicles in transition will be those of the race marshals.
Competitor parking, and overflow parking is at the River Affric car park only. You will be directed there on arrival. Please park ONLY where the car park marshals specifically tell you and do exactly as they say. This way we’ll get everyone in, leaving the race route clear. Spaces are limited so it is advisable to car share if at all possible - there is no public transport to the event.
There are other car parks at Dog Falls & Loch Benevian en route to the start so cars could be dropped off there by those sharing. Marshals will be on hand at both car parks and at strategic points to advise drivers accordingly. Please note that parking charges, currently £2 per vehicle per day, apply at both Dog Falls and River Affric only.
The road between Chisholm Bridge and River Affric Car Park will be closed, EXCEPT TO COMPETITORS AND SPECTATOR TRAFFIC between 9am and 3pm on the day of the event to ensure safety of competitors and race officials. Please obey any instructions given by police/marshals.
The Forestry Commission toilets are at the River Affric car park. In transition there will be 4 event toilets. Please respect the Nature Reserve by using the toilets.
The only feed station is at the exit of transition, and will provide bananas and spring water. The water is very kindly supplied by 'Fionnar Natural Mineral Water, of Drumnadrochit. The water comes from the mountains above Loch Ness. This is the only feed station. It is a reasonably arduous course, so we suggest you carry full cycle water bottles on the cycle section.
You might wish to make a weekend of the event together with friends and family who come along to spectate For details of accommodation in the immediate area, please refer to www.glenaffric.info, the website of Strathglass Marketing one of the major sponsors of the duathlon and whose members contribute towards the event.
Local catering business Moveable Feast will be on site just by transistion with their trailer offering hot and cold food, soup and drinks for sale. There are no shower facilities.
Spectators are most welcome to watch the event but we urge them to respect the safety of the competitors and always be aware of the race going on around them. Spectators are also urged to obey any instructions from the marshals.
